Jets look to keep the wins going as they open up 2026 at home versus Orangeville
The hottest team in the Metropolitan Conference, the Strathroy Jets look to make it 8 straight wins tonight as they open up their 2026 portion of the regular season against the slumping Orangeville Blitz.
Strathroy is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and probably would be in first place in the South Division if it weren't for the Alvinston Killer Bees who have put together a 5-game win streak atop the division. The Jets only have the 5th most goals-for in the conference but currently have the #1 ranked defense allowing just 42 goals against after 14 games.
Strathroy could be catching Orangeville at the right time as the Blitz at one point had sole possession of first place and a 6-point advantage over Six Nations in the North Division. Now, as we welcome in 2026, the Blitz, losers of four in a row find themselves tied for first with the Ironmen who themselves entered the holiday break on a 3-game heater.
Special teams continue to get stronger for Strathroy as their penalty kill entering tonight has a success rate of 92%, and they are scoring on every 5th powerplay opportunity they get for a 20% efficiency rate heading into tonight. Expect that PP percentage to continue to climb steadily if they continue to have names like Prust, Schremp, Buck, Sanza, McNeil, Baker and MacQueen on the ice.
Jets host the Blitz tonight at the Gemini at 7:30pm.
