Jets put 4-game win streak on the line Saturday against the Irish

Well as we get set for Saturday night's tilt between the Strathroy Jets and Stratford Irish, it has been very evident that the two clubs who battled in the conference final last season don't mind renewing hostilities.

So far this season, the Irish lead the season series 2-1 following wins of 3-2 in early October and 5-4 in overtime in mid-November. The Jets lone win thus far coming in late October, a convincing 6-3 win at home.

Both teams head into Saturday dead even in the standings with 15 points and 5 points back of 1st place Alvinston in the Metropolitan South Division of the Northern Premier Hockey League. Strathroy has made a resurgence up the standings at one point a distant third now tied for second and on a 4-game win streak with wins over Six Nations, Tilbury, Halton Hills and the first place Killer Bees from Alvinston.

Strathroy is 4 and 2 away from the Gemini which could bold well as the Irish are only playing at 500 at home with a 2-2-1 record at the William Allman Memorial Arena.

One of the key variables will be the lineup for the Jets and who will actually be dressing Saturday night. In particular Brandon Prust who in his 4 games played to date is averaging 2.3 points per contest with 5 goals and 9 points over that stretch.

Special teams could also come into play as the Irish are sporting a solid 29.7% efficiency rating on the power play but they will be up against a Jets penalty kill clipping at a 92.5% success rate.

Either way, if you are free Saturday night, you may want to take that drive to Stratford for what should be a great hockey game.

Opening faceoff from Stratford Saturday set for 5:30pm.
